Monday evening our final chapter of pregnancy began. Around 5:00 pm on Monday night, Shelli's water broke. We were both very suprised but amazingly calm. We made it to Lutheran General in a record 1 hour 10 minutes at the tail end of rush hour. The doctors put Shelli on monitors and were hopeful she would not go into labor yet. Things were looking good until around 3:00 am, when contractions starting getting more intense and often. The doctors decided it was in the best interest of mother and babies to send them in for a C-section.
John was able to be with Shelli throughout the entire operation and we heard our first cry at 4:43 AM, Tuesday morning. Emmerson Lyn Kelsey was the first to be born. One minute later at 4:44, Brody William Kelsey came to the world. Finally another 30 seconds fly by and at 4:45 Logan John Kelsey rounded out our trio. Emmerson and Brody were given breathing tubes to help them start breathing, and Logan needed just a little oxygen to get going.
Mom is doing well after a very stressful and exhausting night. She is looking forward to getting into a wheelchair and visiting here new children. Emmerson was taken off her breathing tube this afternoon, and Brody is on his way to breathing assistance free very soon. All babies are healthy and have passed all their tests so far. Doctors are estimating 6-7 weeks in the NICU where they will undergo more screening tests, and continue to grow.
